Our Story
2009 has been quite a year for the Goodrich family. After sudden excruciating headaches, Jeff had three impacted teeth extracted on the advice of his doctors. However, instead of helping him, his health declined even further and he was admitted to the ER. A CAT Scan determined that Jeff had a cancerous brain tumor which was then removed. The doctors later determined that it was a Stage 4 Glioblastoma which will require radiation, chemo and experimental medication. Needless to say, the current situation has come as quite a surprise.
Jeff and Julie grew up locally in the South Bay and were high school sweethearts. They have two young daughters – one is beginning middle school and the other high school. Over the last five years, Jeff has worked two jobs to support his family and help put his wife Julie through full-time nursing school. Jeff not only serves the community as a full-time Manhattan Beach police officer, he also works as a general contractor. Jeff has always had a heart for this community, and has spent much of his free time giving back. He has been a coordinator with ShareFest which beautifies local neighborhoods and has been organizing soccer fundraisers for our local schools.
Jeff and Julie and their two daughters continue to rely on their faith every day. With this situation totally out of their control, they are exhibiting an amazing peace. They are being stretched in ways that are very uncomfortable, yet still remain the same caring, sweet family that we all know and love. Their journey continues with them still planted firmly in the Hand of God and His mercy.
