April 22nd, 2009 - Jeff Goodrich

THANK YOU for making Monday night at Rubio’s such a success!!!!!

Jeff and I were floored by all the people who were there to support us.  I can’t even express how grateful we are.  The line was out the door, and the restaurant got really hot, but you stayed anyway – thank you!  It was wonderful to see all of your caring faces and at the same time, it was very humbling that you were all there for us.

Thank you to our Torrance friends and PV friends too.  Marisa, Mindy and Sheri have sent me e-mails about who was there and the love that you all showed for us.

Jeff stayed at the Manhattan Rubio’s until the last person left at 9:30.  The manager said it was the busiest he had ever seen it (they even ran out of some fish!).

Jeff has started exercising a bit (of course he decides to start jogging on THE hottest day!)  But he felt good and is enjoying the break from chemo.

God is stretching me, but in ways that are good.  I am learning to wait patiently(which is challenging because I am a planner!) .

Thank you for belssing our family this week.  We love you.

I’m DONE!!!!! I have finally completed my first round of treatments (radiation and chemo). I am feeling better than ever (praise God) which is partly due to the fact that I know I get a month off from all treatments. However the diet remains the same, but I’m okay with that part. The peace and strength I have had through this first round of surgery and treatment came straight from God. He simply picked me up and carried me through this experience. The support and prayers from everyone made the rest a piece of cake.

So what is next? I get one month off from all treatments and medications starting now. At the end of this break, I will get an MRI and blood work done before meeting with Dr. Chen who will evaluate my condition at that time. I will then be put on a chemo cycle to continue to fight the cancer.

Hello my friends! I am almost done with the first phase of my treatments. On Friday April 17th (9 more days)  I will be DONE with radiation and chemo. After that I will get a one month break from treatments to allow my body time to recover. After the one month break, they will do an MRI and blood work to see how my body and cancer cells responded to the treatments. The doctors will then evaluate my condition and determine the next treatment regimen which will most likely involve more chemo.

I am feeling better than ever and I cant wait to finish this phase. I have completely changed my diet thanks to countless hours of research by my awesome wife who has come up with the best cancer fighting foods for me. The list of foods I can eat is not long, but my doctor was very impressed with what Julie found out about diet and alternative treatments. He agreed with many of the diets and alternative treatments she found and even said he has seen positive results in his research from some of the stuff Julie showed him. I am convinced this diet is one of the reasons I am feeling so good. My radiologist was so surprised at how well I was doing, he asked if he could pass the information on to his other patients.

God has blessed me with so much peace and strength through this that it almost seems easy for me at this point. Julie spends hours everyday reading and researching diets and alternative forms of treatment for brain cancer and is working harder at this than me I think (she is truly amazing). I will never be able to thank everyone enough for all of the support and prayers that keep coming my way. You are all a huge part of my recovery.  Thank you, Jeff
