Jeff seems to be improving. They have removed some of his dressings and IV lines and a few staples,so that is a big relief. His pain is manageable. The nights are long with all the distractions that just go along with being in the hospital. What’s wrong with those nurses (ha,ha) Keep praying I know you all will.
Thursday, January 29, 2009 – 9:30 pm

Thursday, January 29, 2009 – 9:30 pm
Jeff had a pretty good 1st post-op night. I think most of his comfort was knowing that Julie was by his side. He was having apple sauce and jello and seems to be tolerating his pain medication. He is having another MRI this morning to make sure that all of the tumor has been removed. They will have him up and walking later. He will be moved out of ICU today and will most likely be home by Sat. Jeff is requesting to have no visitors at this time.
Wednesday, January 28, 2009 – 5:30 pm
Sorry to keep you all waiting. Jeff’s surgery did not begin at 7:30 as scheduled. It was actually closer to 10am. The surgery lasted about 4-4 1/2 hours. The surgeon was able to remove the tumor and drain the cyst as planned. There wasn’t anything different than what was already known from the previous MRI scan. Once we know the pathology results I will send that update.I’m hoping to know by Monday. Jeff is very groggy and in a lot of pain. Please continue to lift up the Goodrich family and pray for comfort and peace. Thank you all for all your kindness and understanding during this difficult time.
Wednesday, January 28, 2009 – 4:50 pm
Jeff did well in surgery. He is resting, and very groggy. Julie is with him, and is going to stay the night at the hospital with him. The girls had a long day of waiting, but are doing well, and are excited to pick up Julies sister Stephanie from the airport tonight. Thank you for all the concern and prayers. (As relayed from Jeffs stepmom)

Wednesday, January 28, 2009 – Morning
Julie called at 10 am and said that Jeff went in to surgery at about 9:30 this morning because the Radiologist was late. She is going to try to update us once the surgery is done around 12:30pm or 1pm.
Tuesday, January 27, 2009 – Evening
His surgery has been rescheduled for 7:30am tomorrow (Wed) He has met with several of the doctors involved with his care and everyone is on the same page. If all goes well Jeff should be home watching the Super Bowl. Let’s all continue with pray. I will be at the hospital all day with Julie, so I will update in the afternoon. – Debbie
Monday, January 26, 2009 – Evening
Jeff was transferred to University Hospital (affiliated with USC) this afternoon. This hospital has a team of radiologists, pathologists and oncologists that work closely with the neurologist to ensure the best care possible for Jeff. He will have another MRI done either tomorrow night or Wed morning prior to surgery which is scheduled for 10am. Jeff will undergo a 4-5 hour brain operation. The surgeon will remove a 2cm tumor and drain a 5cm cyst which is located in the right temporal lobe region. The tumor will then be analyzed. Continue to pray for Jeff’s healing and lift up the whole Goodrich family.
Monday, January 26, 2009 – Morning
Jeff will be transferred to either UCLA or USC today. The doctor Julie spoke with from UCLA confirmed that it is in fact a tumor but that it seems to be very operable. This doctor believed that having Jeff at a hospital that had more resources on site would be better. I am not sure when the surgery will take place but i assume it will be in the next couple days…I will let you know when I get more info. There is plenty of family in town now to help with the girls and with Julie but please pray for Julie as she is faced with making decisions that God would grant her wisdom and peace. Obviously this is a scary time and we want to cover them in prayer. Pray that their families can see and feel God’s provision through this as well…
